A Day in Provence

Each day unfolds as a seamless rhythm of energy, movement, and serenity:

What to expect

Provence on Horseback

At horse’s pace, you will discover the richness of Alpilles Natural Park and travel around the authentic Provence. The scenery changes constantly throughout the ride.

You will pass under limestone cliffs, through ancient olive groves, under tall Aleppo pines, along canals and over ridges. The perfumes of the Provencale garrigue is ever present as the horses crush rosemary, thyme and cistus under hoof.

Depending on weather conditions, we may see the majestic flight of Bonelli eagles over Alpilles hills!

What to expect

Cook Like a Local

Step into authentic Provence with a hands-on cooking experience led by Jane — our American-born, French-based chef who has spent two decades uncovering the stories, flavours, and traditions of this region.

You will begin with a guided visit to the local market, selecting fresh produce alongside Jane before heading to her charming kitchen for a refined Provençal cooking class. Expect food lore, centuries-old recipes, and warm hospitality — a true taste of Provence you won’t find in any restaurant.

What our guests say

A motivating, energising and fun week

After a big birthday this year, I joined the retreat after a friend recommended it to me. I thought it would be an opportunity to take a little bit of 'me' time. I enjoyed so much of the week, but the kayaking was fantastic. I also enjoyed the variety of all of the walks that we did. Niki's energetic presence made me feel that I could get involved in everything. When I get home, I'm planning on incorporating a bit more strength training into my day.

The week I spent in Menorca was personal, motivational and inspirational.

I decided to join an Avandra retreat because I felt quite strongly that I needed to invest some time in myself. My favourite part of the week was kayaking and the early sunrise hike, and I'm looking forward to improving my stability and core strength when I return home.

I decided to join an Avandra retreat as I've been investing in and looking after myself.

As a female business owner and a busy mum, I know that I need time to look after myself. The retreat was a real investment in me as a human being. I've been gently encouraged this week to go further than I think I can and push my own limits, and I'll aim to continue to do this at home. My favourite part of the week was our first introductory yoga class which was lovely and settling, and in addition I had the benefit of a really great sports massage which was really helpful after a couple of the longer walks.

Beautiful people, beautiful food and a beautiful place to be.

I joined the retreat with a friend for her 50th birthday as a way to celebrate together in a beautiful place and to try something different. The satisfaction of completing a 17-mile hike was wonderful, and being able to jump into the beautiful turquoise blue sea was so relaxing to enjoy with friends and stretch out our muscles. There have been so many moments of reflection; when walking, having moments to yourself and listening to Niki and the other women. Overall the retreat was restorative and I was able to take on tips that were cemented and explained in such a clear and inspiring way.
